Staff at The Twice Brewed Brew Co are toasting their success following another multi-award winning trip to the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) national awards 2023. The brewery, which is located on Hadrian’s Wall – sharing a site with the popular Twice Brewed Inn near Bardon Mill – picked up a national gold and a clutch of silver and bronze awards at the North East Keg Beer Awards which were also announced at the two-day event in Liverpool (March 15-16).
Juno Black continued its reign at the top of the Twice Brewed’s awards league table – bagging a national gold award in the category of Amber & Dark Lager (Bottle/Can) while also picking up a silver in the North East Keg Beer plaudits.
Other successes in the North East Keg Beer stakes were Steel Rigg (Silver, Stout and Porter); Neptune (Bronze, IPA); Ale Caesar (Bronze, Amber, Brown and Red Ale); and Commodus (Bronze, Speciality IPA).
Twice Brewed’s Head Brewer, Matthew Brown, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have brought another batch of prestigious awards back to the brew house.
“Juno Black certainly seems to be catching the attention of the judges with another national gold for the awards cabinet, meanwhile we were really pleased that such a range of our beers were also given silver and bronze awards.
“We’re currently in the middle of a project to extend the brewery, which is lucky as we’re going to need some more wall room and a bigger cabinet for the awards!”
The SIBA National Indpendent Beer Awards judge a huge range of beers across a number of styles in the cask, keg and bottle & can competitions.
As the awards are judged by mostly brewers, industry experts and beer journalists, the awards are very much seen as the ‘brewers’ choice awards’ by the industry.
Following the awards, SIBA chairman, Richard Naisby, congratulated the winners.
He, said: “Judges had a tough job separating the pack as the standard was extremely high once again.
“The winners from the SIBA competition are officially the best independent craft beers in the UK, something brewers should be extremely proud of.
